How To: Install Doyster Media Lightroom Presets
Installing Presets in Lightroom for PC and Mac:
NOTE: These Lightroom presets are for individual use only. All sales are final; any sharing or distribution of purchased items is strictly prohibited.
Installing Presets in Lightroom Classic:
Option 1:
Unzip the preset files to a folder of your choice.
Launch Lightroom Classic on your computer.
In the Develop Menu, navigate to the presets tab on the left side.
Click the “+” sign on the right side of the Presets column
Inside the drop-down menu, click “Import Presets”
Navigate to the location where you have the preset files saved on your computer.
Select the preset files you want to install (usually with .lrtemplate or .xmp extension), and click "Import."
Lightroom will import the presets, and they will now be available in the Presets panel.
Option 2:
Launch Lightroom Classic on your computer.
In the top menu, click on "Edit" (Windows) or "Lightroom Classic" (Mac).
From the drop-down menu, select "Preferences."
In the Preferences window, click on the "Presets" tab.
At the top of the Presets tab, you'll see a section labeled "Lightroom Presets." Click on the "Show Lightroom Presets Folder" button.
A new Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Windows) window will open, displaying the Lightroom presets folder.
Copy and paste the preset files (usually ending with .lrtemplate or .xmp extension) into the "Develop Presets" folder for color presets or "Local Adjustment Presets" folder for brushes and adjustment presets.
Restart Lightroom Classic to ensure the presets are recognized.
The installed presets will now appear in the Presets panel on the left side of the Develop module.
Installing Presets in Lightroom (cloud-based version):
NOTE: Installing presets in the cloud-based version will automatically sync the presets to your mobile app as well, provided that you are logged in under the same account.
Open Lightroom (the cloud-based version) on your computer or launch the Lightroom app.
Click on the "Presets" panel on the right side of the interface to expand it.
At the bottom of the Presets panel, click on the "+" icon.
From the pop-up menu, select "Import Presets."
Navigate to the location where you have the preset files saved on your computer.
Select the preset files you want to install (usually with .lrtemplate or .xmp extension), and click "Import."
Lightroom will import the presets, and they will now be available in the Presets panel.
Installing Presets in Lightroom Mobile
Importing XMP Presets from a ZIP File to Lightroom Mobile (Android):
NOTE: Installing presets in the cloud-based version will automatically sync the presets to your mobile app as well, provided that you are logged in under the same account. If you have access to a computer of any kind, it is much easier to install that way than strictly through a mobile device.
On your Android device, download and install a file manager app like "Files by Google" or "ES File Explorer" from the Google Play Store.
Download the ZIP file containing the XMP presets to your Android device, either directly from a website or via email.
Open the file manager app and navigate to the location where the ZIP file is saved.
Tap on the ZIP file to open it. The file manager app will display the contents of the ZIP file.
Select the XMP preset files you want to import by long-pressing on one of the files and then tapping on the other files to select them.
Once the files are selected, look for the option to extract or unzip the files. This option may be represented by an icon or a menu item.
Choose a location on your device where you want to extract the XMP files. You can create a new folder specifically for presets or choose an existing folder.
After extracting the files, open the Lightroom Mobile app.
Tap on the "+" icon at the bottom of the screen to create a new album.
Enter a name for the album and tap "Create."
Open the album you just created and tap on the three dots (...) at the top-right corner of the screen.
From the menu that appears, select "Add Photos."
Navigate to the folder where you extracted the XMP preset files and select them.
Lightroom Mobile will import the XMP files as presets, and they will now be available in the Presets section for you to apply to your photos.
Importing XMP Presets from a ZIP File to Lightroom Mobile (iOS):
NOTE: Installing presets in the cloud-based version will automatically sync the presets to your mobile app as well, provided that you are logged in under the same account. If you have access to a computer of any kind, it is much easier to install that way than strictly through a mobile device.
On your iOS device, download and install a file manager app like "Documents by Readdle" or "FileApp" from the App Store.
Download the ZIP file containing the XMP presets to your iOS device, either directly from a website or via email.
Open the file manager app and navigate to the location where the ZIP file is saved.
Tap on the ZIP file to open it. The file manager app will display the contents of the ZIP file.
Select the XMP preset files you want to import by tapping on each file individually.
Look for an option to extract or unzip the files. This option may be represented by an icon or a menu item.
Choose a location on your device where you want to extract the XMP files. You can create a new folder specifically for presets or choose an existing folder.
After extracting the files, open the Lightroom Mobile app.
Tap on the "+" icon at the bottom of the screen to create a new album.
Enter a name for the album and tap "Create."
Open the album you just created and tap on the three dots (...) at the top-right corner of the screen.
From the menu that appears, select "Add Photos."
Navigate to the folder where you extracted the XMP preset files and select them.
Lightroom Mobile will import the XMP files as presets, and they will now be available in the Presets section for you to apply to your photos.
By following these steps, you should be able to install Lightroom presets in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom (cloud-based version), and have them automatically synced to Lightroom Mobile through the new Lightroom app. These are meant to be a great baseline to give your photos that extra pop! Use the intensity/amount slider on the presets tab to fine-tune the intensity of the edit.
